That's you, my friends, the picture of City of Liverpool, who happened to visit me as recently as two weeks ago. Below cite a few of theses associations stuck in my head after his visit:
homeland Beatles;
lived across the notorious Penny Lane (halfpenny lane, in our opinion), celebrated the same Beetle;
masterpieces Gelerei Walker (first time I saw such a number of pre-Raphaelite);
European Capital of Culture 2008, with all its consequences;
entire neighborhoods of Victorian residential architecture;
large to dock, now converted into a museum quarter (where the Museum of Liverpool, Museum of Navigation, Museum of the slave trade, Tate Liverpool, Beatles Museum, it is possible that something I forgot);
all state museums - free (!);
a lot of bricks and a little stone;
campus, surrounded by flowers and greenery;
terrific smell of pine needles and lavender;
them at conferences no rustling papers, not chatters do not giggle, not out of the audience during the performance of others;
in general are all very educated;
funny taxi cabs, if in their language;
British drink a lot;
fragrant strawberries and raspberries, delicious berry juices;
unknown bird species, oravshaya heart-rending voice under my window every morning between 4 and 5;
theirs Marks & Spencer is much better in Moscow;
generally cool.
About London'll somehow separately. There's thesis more, although the time to visit him was allocated much less.
